Smack in the middle of Rotterdam Pride week, on Thursday evening 26th of September, Proud organises a movie night on sex work at Door2Door. An evening for sex workers, allies and other interested people that sympathise with sex workers, to focus on the societal position and rights of sex workers.
Door2Door will be open from 18:00. The screening room is accessible from 19:00. This Rotterdam edition of the Sex work Film Fest will be opened by Proud, the union for and by sex workers in the Netherland with an introduction on the programme of the evening and a short film about Proud and sex work in the Netherlands.
At 19:30 there will be an unique screening of the documentary “Crossings: Stories of migrant sex workers”. Crossings is produced by sex workers themselves and shows the results of criminalisation for migrating sex workers and their impressive ways of resistance. By sharing their experiences as women, men, migrants, LGBT people, single mothers, Muslims, Roma and sex workers, they challenge the sensationalist portrayal of all sex workers as “prostituted women” and “trafficking victims”. The documentary is of the International Committee on the Rights of Sex Workers in Europe (ICRSE), who we thank for the opportunity to share this film at this Rotterdam pride week event. Furthermore, there will be screening of Queer shorts, made by a member of Proud. After each film there will be space to further discuss and talk together.
And of course there will be something to drink and popcorn 🙂
Films will be in English without subtitling.
